“Sa Huynh” is a folk name associated with the Sa Huynh Estuary and the strip of sand dunes stretching on both sides of the estuary. Villagers inhabit the Sa Huynh Region today in two communes: Pho Thanh and Pho Chau, in Duc Pho District, Quang Ngai Province. Sa Huynh has long been a busy trading port in Quang Ngai Province. It connects with Tan Diem Lagoon, where a village famous for salt making—literally called “Sa Huynh Salt Village”—is located.
On 2 Jan 2020, a planning workshop for 2020 was held by the Management Board of Ly Son - Sa Huynh Geopark with the participation of nearly 30 members of the management board.
From 31 Oct to 3 Nov 2019, a workshop on preservation of heritages was hosted by Ministry of Culture and Phu Yen province, drawing attendance of 200 heritage practitioners.
